“I’ve been a doctor for 22 years! I don’t really have any business skills!” We hear this same statement (from every profession), over and over, in a hundred different ways. The fact is your career up to this point has created many skills that are directly transferrable to creating a successful business, your OWN business. You just have to determine what those are. Skills such as communication, networking, being a team player, visionary leadership and critical thinking are just a few of the many skills your current/previous job(s) have provided you that will create a foundation for great success in business ownership. Spend some time journaling about the things you do everyday that you feel you are really good at. Ask friends, family and co-workers to give you their perspective on what makes you good at what you do. Write about how those same skills could be applied in a business of your own to propel you toward an incredible life. Remember, you don’t have to be gifted at everything to own a business. You simply have to know what you’re great at, find a business that fits those gifts and your passions and surround yourself with others that have strengths to fill the gaps!
